Birlinn (West Highland Galley) Kilt Pin

The Birlinn, the workhorse of the Hebridean clans, was adapted from Viking longships, fast and light enough to be rowed, sailed, or pulled ashore. It appears in Scottish heraldry as the Lymphad. Set upon a West Highland battle sword, shorter and nimbler than mainland claymores, this pin is inspired by carved grave slabs across the Western Isles. Cast in our Glasgow workshop from premium pewter, available in plain or antique silver finish. 10cm x 3.5cm. Worn on the front of a kilt to prevent lifting. A tribute to the seafaring spirit of Scotland’s island clans.
