Rampant Lion Scottish Penannular Brooch

The Lion Rampant – Scotland’s royal symbol since the 1220s, stands proudly atop this large 124mm x 80mm plaid brooch. ‘Rampant’ describes a beast poised on its hind legs, claws raised, ready to strike; it represents the courage and ferocity of the Scots. Flanking the pin are thistle terminals, honouring Scotland’s national flower. The penannular design echoes ancient Iron Age brooches later adopted by the Scots and Irish. Ideal for securing and weighting a fly plaid or shawl. Completely designed, cast, and finished in our Glasgow workshops from 100% lead‑free pewter. A brooch that captures the confidence of medieval, Renaissance, and modern Scotland.
