Davidson
Clan Davidson, “Son of David.” The Davidson clan, part of the Clan Chattan confederation, used a distinctive crest of a deer pierced by an arrow. The main line descended from David Dubh, but was nearly destroyed at the Battle of Invernahaven (1370). The chiefs later moved north to Tulloch Castle. Henry Davidson made a fortune from plantation slavery – hence many Caribbean Davidsons. The last Davidson of Tulloch died in 1917. The chiefship was revived in 1997 when the Lord Lyon recognised a New Zealander, Duncan Hector Davidson, as chief. His grandson Grant Guthrie Davidson is the current chief.
