Fraser
Clan Fraser of two clans – Lowland and Highland – share French origins, the name likely from places in Anjou. The strawberry plant in the arms is a pun on fraisier. First appearing in Scotland around 1160, Sir Simon Fraser fought with Wallace and was executed by Edward I. Sir Alexander Fraser of Philorth founded Fraserburgh and a short‑lived university there. The chiefly line became Lords Saltoun, avoiding the Jacobite risings. Flora Fraser, Lady Saltown, has written a clan history. Castle Fraser is a Renaissance masterpiece. A family of resilience, learning, and architectural legacy.
