Gunn

Clan Gunn is associated with Caithness, Sutherland, and Orkney. Ancestor Gunni came north in the 12th century. Chief George Gunn was the “great brooch‑wearer” coroner. The Gunns feuded bitterly with the Keiths, suffering defeats and eventually losing their seat. In 1736, a chief famously ate a forgery charge document while fending off officials with a chair. The Gunns fought for the Hanoverians in 1745. The chiefship ended in 1859, but the Clan Gunn Society revived it in 1960. A clan of Norse roots, Highland feuds, and eccentric courage.
